Juvenile Law

Juvenile Law is the area of law that deals with children and those who have not legally become an adult. Common juvenile proceedings include juvenile delinquency matters and juvenile dependency matters, such as a Department of Human Resources (DHR) case for alleged abuse and/or neglect as well as other dependency issues. Larry is a certified Guardian ad Litem, having completed mandatory annual training to keep his certification. A Guardian ad Litem is charged with the special duty of protecting a juvenile's best interests. Let Larry use his experience and training to advise and advocate for you.

On matters relating to delinquency matters, Larry has extensive experience in these proceedings as well. By statute, a juvenile delinquency charge is not a criminal offense. The consequences of a conviction, however, can seem quite similar to that of a criminal conviction. The Court has a wide variety of punishment options available to it; everything from a simple "lecture and release" to probation and even confinement up to a child's 21st birthday. The proper representation in juvenile delinquency matters is key in protecting a juvenile's rights and assuring that youthful mistakes won't severely impact the juveniles ability to lead a productive life in the future. The law allows for special treatment of juveniles, and it is important that you have an attorney that can help guide you through this process.
